Summary of Boitekong

Rustenburg is one of the fastest growing cities in South Africa, which makes Boitekong Mall a good investment opportunity. There is a high level of mining activity in the area and both the local mining sector and the municipality are investing in Boitekong and the surrounding area.

No formal retail exists around Boitekong, as the area is characterised by mining activities and lower income housing. Consumers in this area have to travel to the Rustenburg CBD to do their shopping. The proposed mall will intercept these consumers.

The entire area has been earmarked for the development of residential stands, which will service the mining industry of the larger Rustenburg precinct. Although there are some smaller to medium enterprises in the area, no formal shopping centre node has been established.

Accessibility is good, as the centre is positioned on the main R510 access route to Rustenburg, and the existing public transport infrastructure to the site is good. A new central bus stop and taxi rank will be provided on the new site.
